ABOUT

Will Eakin (aye-kin) is a Knoxville-based composer and arranger whose work emphasizes emotion, storytelling, and collaboration. Drawing from a wide range of influences including film, television, video games, classical pop, jazz pop, and programmatic classical styles, Eakin approaches each piece with a flexible "chameleon" mindset, adapting his voice to best serve the narrative. His original compositions and custom arrangements have been performed by the University of Tennessee Graduate String Quartet, the University of Tennessee Violin Studio, the Bearden High School Orchestra, local music educators, and freelance musicians throughout East Tennessee.

Most recently, Eakin has expanded his reach directly to his digital community, composing original ideas specifically for his social media platforms. Fueled by prompts submitted by both himself and his audience, these recent pieces serve as a collaborative space to connect with and show deep appreciation for the followers who support his creative journey every day.

In addition to composing, Eakin is an in-demand sheet music engraver who has supported music librarians, archivists, researchers, and musicologists through digital engraving projects. Notably, his preservation work on the music of composer David van Vactor was later performed by principal musicians from the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra at the University of Tennessee Libraries. He frequently collaborates with local musicians to create clean, performance-ready scores and parts built for rigorous rehearsal and stage environments.

Eakin holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he studied under Dr. Andrew Sigler, Dr. Jorge Variego, and Dr. Brendan McConville. He also holds a Master of Science in Strategic and Digital Communications from UT Knoxville, specializing in strategic communications, digital content, web design, and audience analytics.
